The coordinators schedule the Darshanim (speakers) and acquaint them with the Yedidya norms regarding length and content. Sometimes the initiative to give a Drash comes from a coordinator, while in other cases it comes from the Darshan. In making the schedule, priority is given to members with a Simcha or a Yahrzeit.

Youth Tefilot and Activities

(description)
The Yedidya youth committee is responsible for the children and youth educational programming in the Kehilla. This ranges from weekly "Tefillot Yeladim" for three different age groups, teen Tefillot and activities to special events for families and different age groups surrounding the holidays. The committee also seeks to build bridges between the youth and the general community activities and Tefillot. The goal of the committee is to provide quality educational programming to the children and youth of the Kehilla and to create a positive, social Shul experience for them. The committee consists of parent members of the community.

Art Exhibits

Kehillat Yedidya considers art, music and literature to be essential elements of our spiritual life. For the past 15 years we have mounted art exhibits in the sanctuary and the entrance floor of the building three times a year for the enjoyment of the congregation and guests. Starting with artists from the Kehillah, we expanded to include artists, photographers, calligraphers, book binders and textile artists, mainly from Jerusalem, giving a variety of artists the opportunity to show their work in a public place, other than an art gallery. The frequent changing of exhibits allows different styles and genres to be represented; the work is frequently related to the Jewish calendar, but is not classical “Judaica”.
Most of the work is available for purchase and the Kehillah receives 15% of the sales, helping to balance the budget. As far as we know, this project of including art within the sanctuaries of the building is unique to our Kehillah.
