מזל טוב לפול סירקין על הולדת הנכד, בנם של יונית ויוסף סירקין. בברית המילה שהתקיימה בל"ג בעומר נקרא הרך הנולד בשם עמיחי יוסף. יהי רצון שיזכו הוריו לגדלו לתורה, לחופה ולמעשים טובים.

Mazal Tov to Paul Serkin on the birth of a grandson, son to Yosef and Yonit Serkin, born on May 3 and named “Amichai Yaakov” at his brit on Lag B’Omer.

אמה של רות כהן נפטרה ביום שלישי בבוקר באנגליה. רות תחזור ארצה ביום שני ותשב שבעה רק ביום שלישי ה-22 במאי בבוקר ברח' יואל סולומון 14. אפשר להתקשר לרות בטל' 0044-75-0361-2370.

Ruth Cohn’s mother passed away on Tuesday in Leeds, England. Ruth will return on Monday and will sit shiva on Tuesday morning May 22 at Yoel Solomon 14. Ruth can be reached at +44-75-0361-2370.

שיעורים ולימוד

יום ג' בשעה 19:00 – השיעור במסכת תענית עם פנחס לייזר. הלימוד יעסוק בנושא הקשור לשבועות ומתן תורה.

יום ה' בשעה 18:45 – השיעור של משה קליין "קריאת ספר בראשית כספר".

יום ה' משעה 20:00 –. בית המדרש, במרכז דב. לימוד מסכת פסחים בחברותות, שיעור מסכם קצר, ואחריו שיעור שני בסדרה "שער לספר הזוהר" מאת יעקב מאיר. פרטים כאן.

פינת הנוער

"ספריה טובה לעולם לא תהיה מסודרת מדי, או מאובקת מדי, כי בכל רגע נתון יימצא בה מישהו, מוריד ספרים מן המדפים ונשאר לקרוא עמוק אל תוך הלילה". (למוני סניקט, מתוך הספר "חזרת: אמיתות מרות אך בלתי-נמנעות")  ביום שישי ד' בסיון ה-25 במאי בשעה 12:30 נוער ידידיה מוזמן לסייע במבצע סידור הספרייה בבית כנסת. תהיה פיצה!

בקרוב! סיור חווייתי מיוחד שידגים את חשיבות התו החברתי. בסיור: התנסות בהתניידות בכיסאות גלגלים ותנועה בעיניים מכוסות. התאריך המדויק יפורסם בהמשך.

תיקון ליל שבועות לנוער וילדים:

Youth Corner

“A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them.” (Lemony Snicket, Horseradish: Bitter Truths You Can't Avoid)  On Friday May 25^th at 12:30, all Yedidya youth are invited to help re-arrange the Yedidya library. Pizza will be served!

Coming soon! In order to understand the importance of the “Tav Chevrati”, there will be a special tour where we will be pushed on wheelchairs and walk around blindfolded in order to experience some of the obstacles faced by the handicapped.

The schedule for the Tikun Leil Shavuot for youth is as follows:

10:30 PM – 11:30 PM     Learning for kids in grades 4 to 6 and their parents, led by Naava Zohar Sykes

10:30 PM – 11:30 PM     Learning for youth grades 7 and up led by Aytan Kadden

11:30 PM – 12:30 AM     Torah “Tisch” for youth

בשבת פרשת במדבר, ה-26 במאי, ערב חג שבועות, לאחר קידוש יהיה שבת עיון מיוחדת עם הרב בני לאו בנושא "רצוננו לראות את מלכנו – על הרצון לראות ועל היראה המרחיקה."

On Shabbat Parashat Bamidbar, May 26, Erev Shavuot, there will be a special Shabbat Iyun after Kiddush. Rav Benny Lau will speak on “Our desire to see our King.”

אנחנו מארגנים ארוחה חלבית משותפת בליל שבועות שתתחיל בשבת עם סעודה שלישית מורחבת, ותמשיך אחרי תפילת ערבית עם קידוש, חלות, סלטים וקינוחים. כל האוכל יהיה קר.

כדי להירשם, עליכם לשלוח דוא"ל לרנה עד יום שני ה-21 במאי עם הפרטים הבאים:

1.      כמה משתתפים ממשפחתכם?

2.      מה תביאו מתוך 4 האופציות הבאות: קינוח, סלט פסטה, דג, סלט + שני סלטים (חומוס וכו')

נא להביא כמות שתספיק לפי שלוש לפחות ממספר המשתתפים ממשפחתכם.

הארוחה תתקיים אם ירשמו לפחות 50 אנשים.

Yes! There will be a dairy communal meal on the eve of Shavuot, beginning with an expanded Seudah Shlishit on Shabbat. After Ma’ariv for Yom Tov, there will be Kiddush, challot, salads and desserts. All meals will be cold.

To participate, you must send an email to Renee by Monday May 21^st including answers to the following questions:

1.      How many family members will participate?

2.      Which of the following 4 choices will you bring? Dessert, pasta dish, fish, salad & two dips.

Please bring enough food for 3 times the number of people in your family.

The meal will take place only if at least 50 people sign up.

בואו לעזור לסדר את הספרייה לפני שבועות – ביום שישי, ד' בסיון ה-25 במאי, משבע בבוקר (לאחר שחרית) נערוך מבצע לסמן, לרשום ולהעמיד על המדף כ-300 כרכים שנתרמו ונרכשו לספריית הקהילה. אם אתם יכולים להתנדב למשך שעה או שעתיים, אנא צרו קשר עם אביטל 054-487-8557. אנא ציינו בערך באיזו שעה תוכלו להגיע. יש משימות המתאימות לכל גיל (כמעט) ולכל מצב גופני.

Pre-Shavuot Library Campaign – Please join us on Friday May 25^th to help label and shelve the 300 volumes recently purchased or donated to the Yedidya library. If you can volunteer for an hour or two at any time during the day – even as early as 7 AM – please contact Avital 054-487-8557 and tell her when you will be arriving. We have jobs for almost every age and physical ability.

We are planning a special Kiddush to honor our high school graduates. If you have a son or daughter who is graduating from 12^th grade, please email Jenny their name (in English and Hebrew) and what their plans are for next year.

The Burnt Forest – A multimedia exhibit featuring paintings; photographs and ceramics, inspired by a burnt palm forest. Not to be missed! Artists: Nicole Levy, Gidon Levy and Arlene Chinitz. Opens today (Thursday May 17^th) from 7 PM to 10 PM at Yad Haruzim 4, 3rd Floor.

On Friday May 18, the Council for Site Preservation will offer a tour of Baka entitled “Building Styles in the Baka Neighborhood”, led by the architect Moshe Shapiro, who is one of the authors of the master plan for the neighborhood. Advance registration required at telephone 625-2357.
