Minutes of Vaad Menahel meeting 01.09.09

  1. Minutes of the previous Meeting

Were approved and signed.

 

  1. The Kupat Tzedakah

Received 500-600 NIS from the High School Musical. The Kupah has received many requests for Rosh Hashanah and is in urgent need for funds.

 

  1. Kolech – Pelech Beit Midrash

After negotiations with all parties it has been agreed that the new Beit Midrash will begin on the Thursday night before Yom Kippur. At this stage it will meet upstairs. For advertising flyers will be put up on poster-boards. A budget of up to 1500 NIS was approved.

 

  1. Hearing-impaired Amplification System

Machon Tzomet has approved the system, subject to detailed conditions. No other orthodox synagogue has such a system. The purchase, at a price of 12,000 NIS + VAT, was approved. A press release, prepared by Randi, detailing this new feature, in particular, and our overall accessibility policy in general, will be distributed.

 

  1. Yamim Noraim

i)                    Kobi has prepared a detailed schedule. Erev Rosh Hashana S'lichot at 22:30.

ii)                  Speakers are being sought for Erev S'lichot, Shabbat Shuva, and Kol Nidrei (one in Hebrew, one in English).

iii)                Early minyanim: Rosh Hashanah 5:45, Yom Kippur 6:00.

iv)                Eudice will be advised of times for setting lights and a/c.

v)                  Shade will be needed outside for kid's activities.

vi)                Hoshannah Rabbah night – in cooperation with Maalei Gilboah. The Yedidya minyan will be at 7:00. Haim Watzman has requested that the Beit Midrash be consulted about the night study session.

vii)              On Friday night of Shabbat Breishit, Neemanei Torah v'Avodah will conduct a study session, starting at 21:00.

viii)            Gary agreed to obtain recommendations for shmirah  from the police.

 

  1. Miscellaneous

I.                   The Blood Drive and Succah building will take place a Sept. 29th, starting at 17:00.

II.                The Yisrael Campbell film will be shown in November. It is hoped that the director will be here.

III.             Daniel Rohrlich is looking for help in recruiting a coordinator for Divrei Torah speakers. Meir Zalevski's name was raised as a possibility.

IV.             Penina will put a notice in Yediot about the seating on Yom Kippur.

V.                It was agreed that a learning process be initiated on the Seder Avodah of Yom Kippur Mussaf, and a recommendation be made subsequently by the Minhag and Halachah Committee, as to whether any changes be made next year.
